Fishing Report

 Febrary 2017

Winter conditions have finally settled in Cabo. This means water temps in the low 70’s and a slightly different approach to the action. We are still seeing a good striped marlin bite, both with live bait and lures; 2-3 shots per day are the norm and most of the action is on the Pacific side. We have been using some new light tackle gear made by Shimano. These beautiful fish are amazing to catch and release on light tackle. .

The Bad Medicine practices Tag and Release with special tags provided by the Billfish Foundation. One of our fish was recently caught, and had been at large for 1,065 days. Check out this link to see the story;! Catch and release really makes a difference, and we are proud to do our part.

The tuna bite has also been consistent. Anglers are filling coolers and slicing sashimi like crazy these days with many fish in the 10-20 lb range. The cooler water also brings on the in-shore bite with plenty of sierra mackerel and yellowtail showing now. We love fishing the bottom for the big California Yellowtail that show up here each winter, and for those that have never caught one straight below the boat on a jigging spoon, you need to experience this! We also fill coolers with these beautiful fish and slice sashimi like crazy with them as well!

Conditions are perfect. Get down here! Cabo Villas Beach Resort offers a hotel/fishing package!
