Fishing Report

 October 2015

This summer has been one of the warmest ever in Cabo. Water temps in the upper 80's and even up to 90 degrees. Amazing deep blue water with visibility up to 100 feet. This does sort of scatter the fish everywhere, as there are no temperature break lines to locate concentrations of fish. But it also makes for an incredible experience, as one never knows what will happen in Cabo in these conditions.

A number of big Blue and Black Marlin have already been landed. Fish up to 800 lbs have been brought to the scales and daily bites on fish over 400 lbs are common. Truly amazing to say the least! The Bad Medicine has already caught 14 Blue Marlin this summer with the largest being approximately 450 lbs. There is simply nothing like seeing a lit up Blue Marlin ripping line off the spool in glass calm conditions. Bucket list stuff to say the least.

Big Tuna have also been showing with the Bad Medicine landing a beauty weighing 245 lbs on August 16. Plenty of Tuna over 150 lbs, and with little fishing pressure, these big fish BITE when located. We have had the best summer ever on Tuna. They bite lures and bait, but our best trick is still our kite fishing method. If you have not seen the Bad Medicine crew manage the kite bite, you have not really fished big game!

Angler Donovan Bowen, along with boat owner Chris Erickson, landed the 245lb Yellowfin Tuna along with a 335 lb Blue Marlin on Aug 16. This was one of the best days ever on the Bad Medicine and it was a pleasure fishing with Donovan.

The Bad Medicine broke a very long standing Cabo record on Aug 22 with a SUPER GRAND SLAM! This consists of a Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Pacific Sailfish all caught on the same day. The Bad Medicine team is very proud to have accomplished this and is having an incredible summer on Billfish. Check out the Super Grand Slam video on our website.

The warm water has also brought an amazing amount of Sailfish and Wahoo. 5-6 shots per day on Sails is quite common and 1-2 shots per day on Wahoo have filled many freezers this summer! The action will continue through December. Get booked! Cabo Villas Beach Resort has accommodations.

The tuna have also finally shown up. Some fat fish were hauled to the scales, with fish over 150 lbs out there. Be ready to stretch your arms.

The shore bite is also on. The Mullet are spawning and that brings the Roosterfish. Super fun light tackle action and there are miles of untouched beaches to attack.

See you where the sun shines! Get down here! Thanks and look forward to getting you on the water!
